Founder and Director Paul Wearne launched the business as Metal Building Systems (Vic) Pty Ltd in Springvale in 1996, concentrating mainly on supplying steelwork. The company began diversifying into other products, such as plasterboard and acoustic systems, and a shift to bigger premises in Clayton in 2003 coincided with the name change to Melbourne Building Supplies.
Within two years, we had outgrown the Clayton site, and a much larger property was identified in the light industrial suburb of Braeside. Outfitted for our specialist requirements, it has the space and buildings for administration, storage and delivery of products all over Australia and around the world.
The foundation of our business is the knowledge and experience Paul Wearne and his staff have gained through 18 years in the construction industry.
Melbourne Building Supplies prides itself on not only the range of products we have in stock and can source, but also our continuing search for new materials and concepts.
“It can be a complex business fitting out large constructions, and we see ourselves as the place to go for finding the answers and providing the solutions to the challenges that always come up,” Paul says.
“We can do that because we have excellent relationships with a wide range of manufacturers, not only in Australia, where we source most of our products, but also in the US, Asia and Europe. We are always on top of what is happening.” |
